Joseph Hackler

Joseph “Joe” Odell Hackler age 93 of Clyde passed away Thursday Sep. 28, 2017 at his residence.  He was born Aug. 11, 1924 in Wytheville, VA the son of the late Joseph JW & Anna (Felty) Hackler.

Joe was a carpenter for many years and served in the US Army in WWII and was a part of the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge.

He will be remembered as a mentor to many people.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, Clyde.

Joe lived in Maryland for many years and enjoyed “crabbing”.

Survivors include his sister; Cora Smith of Clyde and many nieces and nephews who loved him deeply.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings; Pauline Patton, James Hackler, Alice Hackler, Marjorie Stevens, David Hackler and Eva Lee Hackler.

Friends will be received Monday, Oct. 2, 2017 from 10:00 am until a funeral service begins at 11:00 am at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde.
