Lizabeth Young

Lizabeth Joan Young of Bonita Springs, Florida passed away peacefully on August 31, 2017 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born on September 24, 1948 in Bellevue, Ohio to Rodger and Irene Gerhardstein. She grew up in Bellevue and graduated from York High School in 1966.  She attended Bowling Green State University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Liz went on to further her education receiving a Master’s Degree and a Reading Specialist Degree, both in education.  During her 45 year career she taught in various schools in the local area as well as holding the position of The Head of the Lower School at Good Shepherd Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas.

After retirement, she and her husband moved to Bonita Springs, FL. She is survived by her husband William Young whom she married on December 13, 1986 in Chicago, IL. Also surviving are her children Jenn (Jimmy) Johnson, Shannon (Troy) Druckenmiller, step-daughters Sibohan (Scott) Whitehead, and Dawn (Mike) Parr as well as her eleven loving grandchildren,  Devin, Dylan, Kamryn, Ayden, Ellie, Brenna, Bailey, Donavan, Bailey, Brandon, and Nicholas. She is also survived by seven siblings, Linda Oatley, Mary K (Dave) Schlessman, Thom (Jackie) Gerhardstein, Diane (Bruce) Yingling, Sam (Dorothy) Gerhardstein, Toni (Chris) Walters, Laura (Jim) Tebeau and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Liz is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Rodger Gerhardstein. 

Visitation will be Tuesday, Sep. 5, 2017 from 4 – 7 pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place in Bellevue. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Sep. 6, 2017, 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St, Bellevue.  She will be laid to rest in the family cemetery on Golden Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception School Endowment Fund or Immaculate Conception Church.
